I design and facilitate training for psychologists, health professionals, students, lawyers, policy makers and organisations working with people affected by trauma and systemic oppression.

Working with people who have experienced trauma requires more than knowing the theory.

What it takes

It requires an understanding of how trauma affects people, how culture and context shape psychological responses, and how professionals can provide support without inadvertently causing further harm. It also requires us to think about the impact of the work on ourselves.

Who I train

I design and facilitate training for psychologists, health professionals, students, lawyers, policy makers and organisations working with people affected by trauma and systemic oppression.

Training areas

Trauma-informed practice

Understanding trauma, its psychological and behavioural effects, and how to create environments and work effectively with clients that support safety, choice, trust and dignity.

PTSD and complex PTSD

Clinical considerations in understanding, assessing and treating PTSD and complex trauma.

Refugee and asylum-seeker mental health

Understanding the psychological impact of forced migration, persecution, displacement, uncertainty and prolonged experiences of systemic stress.

Working with interpreters

Practical and clinical considerations when providing psychological care through an interpreter.

Vicarious trauma and burnout

Understanding the cumulative impact of working with traumatic material and developing individual and organisational approaches to sustainable practice.

Dissociation and dissociative disorders

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of dissociation and dissociative disorders.

How training runs

Interactive, not a lecture

I aim to make training interactive, thoughtful and practical. Rather than simply presenting information, I encourage participants to consider how the material applies to their own clients, teams and professional environments.

What sessions include

Training can include case examples, interactive discussion, reflection, practical exercises and opportunities to consider how evidence-informed approaches can be adapted to different contexts.

Tailored to your organisation

Every organisation has different needs. I can design or adapt training around a particular client population, professional group, organisational context or area of concern.

Where

Training can be delivered online or in person around Australia.

Fees

Fees and payment

Training fees vary on the package selected, length of workshop, location and number of participants. Please get in touch and I will send you a guide with my fee ranges and a specific quote once you know what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Can training be tailored to our team?+

Yes. Existing programs can be delivered as they are, or a session can be built around your brief, sector and the material your staff handle. Send an outline of what your team is dealing with and I will come back with a proposed shape.

Is training delivered online or in person?+

Both. Training can be delivered online anywhere in Australia, or in person depending on location.

Who is training suited to?+

Psychologists, health professionals, students, lawyers, policy makers, researchers, journalists, volunteers and organisations working with people affected by trauma and systemic oppression.

How long is a session?+

Length is set with you, from a short workshop through to a longer program. This shapes the fee, along with participant numbers and location.

Acknowledgement

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as Traditional Owners of the land on which I work. I pay my respects to elders past and present. I also acknowledge that the people of this land hold knowledge about health practices and healing which have been practiced for thousands of years and lie outside Western medicine. Sovereignty was never ceded. It always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

I embrace diversity and strive to create a safe space for everyone.
